Job summary

McCormick is seeking an enthusiastic R&D Learner in Midrand to support the New Product Development team throughout product commercialization, from development to customer launch, focusing on compounding seasonings at benchtop level and alignment with procedures and customer needs.

The role involves executing blending, sampling, SAP RD formulations viewing, stock management, lab calibrations, and collaboration with technologists to drive sensory evaluations and internal tests.

Qualifications

• Final year of Diploma - Food Technology/ Biotechnology or equivalent qualification.
• Ability to interact cross-functionally.
• Ability to initiate without being prompted.

Responsibilities

• Execute compounding activities to ensure seasonings are blended as per procedures for samples and customer submissions.
• Conduct application to base product (snacks & coatings) for samples and submissions.
• Manage NPD samples for retention and ensure base availability and storage.
• Collaborate with Product Development Technologists for sensory research, shelf-life and tests.
• Monitor laboratory stock of raw materials and consumables.
• Ensure stock levels are sufficient and within shelf-life.
• Daily scale checks and calibrations on lab equipment.
• View & Print SAP RD formulations for blending purposes.
• Attend company meetings and departmental meetings.
