  • Conduct functionality testing locally and coordinate samples for UK/USA teams.
  • Understand capability requirements (e.g., 1.33) and drive understanding.
  • Maintain functionality database and write performance reports.
  • Support seasoning implementation for Midrand site, including SAP & labeling checks.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, QA and R&D to ensure right-first-time execution.

Product & Process Implementation Technologist

The Product & Process Implementation (PPI) Technologist is a part of the development team based in South Africa with very tight links to the PPI team in the UK primarily responsible for implementing new product design for both products and processes.

The PPI Technologist role sits between New Product Development and Manufacturing Teams within overall product commercialization/ scale up process with responsibility for testing during the development phase, launching of seasonings into South Africa dry factory and working with operations and quality for successful implementation and RFT including meeting customer’s functionality requirements.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
  • To take a lead to co-ordinate and manage small trial blend requests. This includes arranging for trials to be picked by dispensary, blending of the trials, packing, sending samples for micro and arranging for despatch of the trials.
  • Conduct functionality testing locally.
  • Arrange and co-ordinate samples to be sent to the PPI team in Haddenham and PepsiCo USA.
  • Understand the requirements for capability of 1.33 and driving understanding.
  • Maintain functionality database and write reports accordingly.
  • Support of seasoning implementation for Midrand site. This includes coordinating activities in support of Scale-up/ First Time Order including testing, product set up, checking SAP & labels, attending factory activity, and closing trials.
  • Ensure that the product implementation programme can re-create the lab design for new products within the manufacturing environment and that new products will perform in both the McCormick process and those of our customers or co-packers, where appropriate. CCI projects, non-conformance trials and batch size changes are included in this programme.
  • Advise and support NPD functions on operations capability to ensure right first time.
  • Compile reports for trials as required
  • Lead the cross-functional FTO forum
  • Execute compounding and application activities to avail samples for functionality/ capability studies.
  • Manage functionality samples for retention purposes.
  • Inter-Functional Support (Manufacturing, QA and R&D) and Process & Equipment Implementation as needed
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • 1-3 years experience in a Quality / Technical / NPD / Production / Process role
  • Diploma/ B-Tech Degree - Food Technology, Biotechnology B. Sc - Food Science or equivalent qualification
