About the Role Our client is a reputable construction consulting firm with a diverse portfolio of commercial and industrial projects. They are seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor to join their team based in Paarl, Western Cape . This role is essential for managing all costs relating to construction projects, from initial calculations and tendering to final project costs. The Quantity Surveyor will ensure that projects are completed within budget while maintaining high standards of quality and value. You will be responsible for cost management, contract administration, and value engineering throughout the project lifecycle. This is a key position requiring strong analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a solid understanding of construction economics. The role involves close collaboration with project teams, contractors, and clients, providing expert financial and contractual advice in the Paarl area.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and Bills of Quantities (BoQ).
• Manage the tendering process, including evaluating bids and selecting contractors.
• Administer construction contracts, including variations, claims, and final accounts.
• Monitor project costs and prepare regular cost reports for management.
• Conduct site visits to assess progress and verify measurements for payment applications.
• Identify potential cost savings and implement value engineering strategies.
• Advise on contractual matters and dispute resolution.
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies and contractual obligations.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, and contractors on all cost-related matters.
• Maintain accurate financial records and project documentation.

Requirements

• BSc or BTech in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management.
• Professional registration with the SACQSP is advantageous.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry.
• Proven experience in commercial and industrial construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and contract law (e.g., JBCC, NEC).
• Proficiency in quantity surveying software (e.g., WinQS, CostX) and MS Excel.
• Excellent analytical, numerical, and negotiation skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within the Western Cape.
