Job summary

Pronel Personnel is seeking a Quality Systems Manager to own and continually improve the Quality, Food Safety and OHS systems within a regulated manufacturing environment in Pietermaritzburg.

You will drive FSSC 22000 compliance, lead audits, manage CAPAs and root-cause investigations, and build a culture of quality and safety across Production, Engineering, Procurement and Warehousing.

You will mentor the Quality team and work with suppliers to ensure incoming-material quality controls.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Quality, Food Science/Technology, Engineering, Environmental Health, Safety Management or related field.
• FSSC 22000 training.
• Internal or Lead Auditor training.
• Formal OHS training such as SAMTRAC.
• Experience in food manufacturing/packaging or another regulated manufacturing environment.
• Experience with certification, customer and regulatory audits.
• Knowledge of HACCP, risk assessment, and CAPA.
• Practical OHS and incident investigations experience.
• Excellent organisational, analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Owning and continually improving the Quality and Food Safety Management Systems
• Keeping the business audit-ready and ensuring ongoing FSSC 22000 compliance
• Leading internal, supplier, customer and certification audits
• Taking charge of non-conformances, complaints, CAPAs and root-cause investigations
• Driving food safety, hazard analysis, risk assessments and traceability
• Leading OHS risk assessments, incident investigations and workplace safety initiatives
• Monitoring quality, food safety and OHS trends and turning the data into action
• Working closely with Production, Engineering, Procurement and Warehousing to improve processes
• Managing supplier approval and incoming-material quality controls
• Building employee awareness through training, coaching and engagement
• Leading and developing the Quality team
