Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline is required.
• Minimum 5 years in quality control/assurance in manufacturing, with 2+ years in supervision.
• Experience with ISO 9001 and SPC / Pareto chart tools is preferred.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills are essential.
• Proven leadership ability and team development focus.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily QC department operations, scheduling, task assignment, and performance monitoring.
• Develop and maintain QC procedures and documentation in line with ISO standards.
• Inspect production processes, finished goods, and raw materials for defects.
• Train and mentor QC inspectors on inspection techniques and specs.
• Investigate complaints and CAPA implementation to prevent recurrence.
• Analyze quality data and report KPIs to senior management.

About the Role

Our client, a leading producer of high-quality consumer goods, is seeking a dedicated and meticulous Quality Control Supervisor to lead their quality assurance team in Vereeniging, Gauteng. This pivotal role involves overseeing all aspects of the quality control process, from raw material inspection to final product verification, ensuring that all products meet stringent company and industry standards. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and enforcing quality protocols, managing a team of QC inspectors, and driving continuous improvement in quality performance. Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage the daily operations of the Quality Control department, including personnel scheduling, task assignment, and performance monitoring.
• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive quality control procedures and documentation, ensuring adherence to ISO standards and other relevant regulations.
• Conduct regular inspections and audits of production processes, finished goods, and raw materials to identify defects and deviations from standards.
• Train and mentor QC inspectors on proper inspection techniques, product specifications, and quality standards.
• Investigate customer complaints and non-conformance issues, identifying root causes and implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Analyze quality data and generate reports on key performance indicators (KPIs), providing insights and recommendations to senior management for continuous improvement.
• Collaborate closely with production, engineering, and R&D departments to address quality concerns and implement quality improvement initiatives.
• Ensure that all QC equipment is calibrated and maintained properly, and that testing methods are accurate and reliable.
• Champion a quality-first culture throughout the organization, promoting awareness and accountability for quality at all levels.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality control or quality assurance within a manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Proven experience with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and statistical quality control tools (e.g., SPC, Pareto charts, control charts).
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and common quality defects in the consumer goods industry.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Effective leadership and team management abilities, with a focus on developing and motivating staff.
• Proficiency in using quality control software and standard office productivity tools.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff and external stakeholders in Vereeniging, Gauteng.
