Job summary

The Western Cape Government is seeking an experienced lawyer with an LLB and admission as an Advocate or Attorney to provide legal services and governance advisory across departments and municipalities.

The role requires strong constitutional law knowledge, extensive post-qualification experience (5 to 9+ years), and the ability to render training and advisory services. A valid driving licence (Code B or higher) is required. Shortlisted candidates will undergo assessments.

Qualifications

• An LLB-degree with admission as an Advocate or Attorney.
• A minimum of 5 years' post-qualification legal experience (LP7) or 9 years' post-qualification experience (LP8).
• A valid driving license (Code B or higher).

Responsibilities

• Render legal training to departments, public entities and municipalities.
• Render legal research and advisory services on governance matters.
• Provide legal governance assessments and reporting services to provincial departments and entities.
• Render transversal legal governance services on PAIA, PAJA and POPIA compliance.
• Review and maintain delegations for executive members and departments.
