Job summary

Placements24 is partnering with a Centurion-based media and PR entity to hire a Public Relations Coordinator. This office-based role supports and executes PR initiatives, manages media relations, drafts communications, monitors coverage, and coordinates events.

You will work closely with the PR Manager and senior team members in a collaborative setting, building a strong foundation for a career in public relations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or a related discipline.
• 0-2 years of experience in public relations, communications, or a relevant internship.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with media monitoring tools and PR best practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Team player with a proactive and positive attitude.
• Eagerness to learn and develop within the PR field.
• Must be willing to work full-time in our Centurion, Gauteng office.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the development and execution of public relations plans and campaigns.
• Support media outreach efforts by identifying relevant journalists and pitching stories.
• Draft and proofread press releases, media alerts, and other PR materials.
• Monitor media outlets for mentions of the company and its clients, compiling coverage reports.
• Assist in organizing and coordinating media events, press conferences, and interviews.
• Maintain and update media contact databases.
• Provide administrative support to the PR team, including scheduling meetings and managing calendars.
• Contribute to social media content creation and community engagement efforts.
• Conduct research on industry trends and competitor activities.
