Placements24 is seeking an Environmental Health and Sanitation Officer to oversee sanitation operations in Rustenburg, North West. This on-site role focuses on enforcing sanitation policies, conducting inspections, and leading public health initiatives to improve community well-being.

The ideal candidate will hold a degree or diploma in Environmental Health, possess strong leadership and communication skills, and be willing to travel within the region.

Qualifications

• A degree or diploma in Environmental Health, Public Health, or a related field.
• Substantial experience in environmental health and sanitation management.
• In-depth knowledge of sanitation laws, regulations, and public health principles.
• Proven experience in conducting inspections and enforcing compliance.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive sanitation programs and strategies for the region.
• Conduct regular site inspections of public spaces, businesses, and residential areas to ensure compliance with sanitation regulations.
• Investigate public health nuisances and environmental hazards, implementing corrective actions.
• Educate the public and businesses on proper sanitation practices and health guidelines.
• Manage and supervise teams involved in sanitation initiatives, waste management, and pest control.
• Enforce local health ordinances and regulations, issuing notices and citations as necessary.
• Collaborate with government agencies, community leaders, and other stakeholders to address environmental health issues.
• Prepare detailed reports on inspection findings, program effectiveness, and recommendations for improvement.
• Respond to public health emergencies and coordinate relevant sanitation responses.
