Job summary

Ejobdesign is seeking a Public Areas Attendant to clean all hotel public areas and support housekeeping. The role requires shift work including mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays, with a focus on keeping lobbies, corridors and restrooms spotless and welcoming.

Ideal candidates have a Matric (NQF 4) and a proactive, service-oriented attitude. Prior housekeeping experience helps, but is not essential. This is an hourly paid position in Cape Town’s Newlands area.

Qualifications

• Matric (NQF 4) is required.
• Shift work including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Experience in housekeeping/janitorial is advantageous but not essential.
• Satisfactory criminal record assessment may apply.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of lobby, hallways, elevators, entrances.
• Keep public restrooms stocked with toilet paper, soap and towels.
• Report safety issues or damaged items to supervisor immediately.
• Be friendly and helpful to guests in public areas.
• Use cleaning tools and chemicals safely following hotel rules.
• Complete daily tasks including deep cleaning as scheduled.

We are looking to recruit a Public Areas Attendant to provide the daily cleaning service of all public areas and to act as support staff for other areas within the housekeeping and laundry departments.

Key Accountabilities

• Keep all guest areas like lobbies, hallways, elevators, and entrances clean, neat, and welcoming always.
• Clean public restrooms regularly and make sure they always have enough toilet paper, soap, and towels.
• Report any broken items, spills, or safety problems to your supervisor right away.
• Be friendly and helpful to guests in public areas and answer simple questions politely.
• Use cleaning tools and products safely and the right way, following hotel rules.
• Complete daily cleaning tasks on time, including both regular and deep cleaning jobs.

Minimum Requirements

• Matric (NQF Level 4) is required
• Shift work including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Previous experience in a similar role (housekeeping, janitorial, or public area cleaning) is advantageous but not essential
• Satisfactory criminal record, subject to assessment of the nature, severity, relevance, and recency of any offence
