Job summary

Utah Afterschool Network is seeking an Afterschool Specialist to work directly with youth in a safe, supervised program and to serve as a positive role model.

You will design and implement hands-on, project-based lessons across core areas, deliver 1–2 evidence-based sessions weekly, and lead groups while addressing behavior issues. Weekend events may occur as needed.

Qualifications

• Familiarize with prepared lesson plans and write new ones in core areas (common core, character development, STEAM, fitness, recreation)
• Deliver 1–2 evidence-based, prevention-focused lessons weekly
• Lead groups of youth and address behavior issues as needed

Responsibilities

• Collect accurate attendance and activity participation data
• Communicate successes and challenges regarding youth to direct supervisors
• Conduct pre- and post-surveys according to grant requirements
• Arrive on time for scheduled shifts and required staff meetings, trainings, and events
• Serve snacks and dinner, oversee meal times (may require Food Handler's Permit)
• Maintain daily cleanliness of program areas (office, classrooms, gym, kitchen)
• Work at city-sponsored events, typically 1–2 times per month on a Friday evening or Saturday morning

Essential Responsibilities And Duties
