About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Project Mechanical Engineer to contribute to significant projects based in Richards Bay . This role involves managing mechanical engineering aspects of diverse projects, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery. You will be responsible for the full project lifecycle, from conceptualization and design through to implementation and commissioning. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong project management capabilities combined with robust mechanical engineering expertise, working closely with site operations and engineering teams to achieve project objectives in the industrial heart of KwaZulu-Natal.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the mechanical engineering aspects of assigned projects, ensuring technical integrity and compliance with project scope.
• Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and cost estimates for mechanical components and systems.
• Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and internal teams to manage procurement, fabrication, and installation activities.
• Conduct site inspections and provide technical support during the construction and commissioning phases.
• Perform root cause analysis for any mechanical failures or performance issues encountered during projects.
• Ensure all mechanical designs and installations meet relevant industry standards and safety regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Proven experience (6+ years) in project engineering or project management within a relevant industry.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems design, installation, and maintenance.
• Familiarity with project management methodologies and software (e.g., MS Project).
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a site-based, project-driven environment in Richards Bay .
