Job Summary
The Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing assigned projects for Afrocentric IP. The role focuses on ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and according to agreed scope and quality standards. The Project Manager will coordinate internal teams, clients, vendors, and other stakeholders while managing project risks, issues, changes, governance, and reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Delivery
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and task allocations.
- Coordinate project activities and resources to ensure milestones are achieved.
- Monitor project progress against agreed scope, budget, and timelines.
- Take corrective action when projects deviate from approved plans.
- Ensure project deliverables meet agreed quality standards and business requirements.
- Coordinate resources across multiple project activities and workstreams.
Risk, Issue & Change Management
- Identify, assess, document, and track project risks and issues.
- Maintain an accurate project risk and issue register.
- Develop and track mitigation and corrective actions.
- Escalate significant risks and issues to appropriate stakeholders.
- Manage project scope changes through formal change control processes.
- Ensure approved changes are properly documented and communicated.
Stakeholder Communication & Coordination
- Facilitate regular project meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide clear and accurate project progress updates.
- Build strong working relationships with clients, internal teams, vendors, and suppliers.
- Act as the primary point of contact for day-to-day project coordination.
- Manage stakeholder expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
- Communicate project risks, issues, dependencies, and decisions effectively.
Governance & Documentation
- Maintain complete and accurate project governance documentation.
- Prepare and maintain project charters, meeting minutes, registers, reports, and supporting documentation.
- Ensure projects follow the organisation's PMO methodology and governance standards.
- Support project resource planning and budget tracking.
- Ensure project records remain accurate and up to date throughout the project lifecycle.
Minimum Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Information Technology, Business Management, Project Management, or a related field.
- 4–6 years' experience in project management or project coordination.
- Demonstrated experience delivering projects within agreed scope, budget, and timelines.
- Experience working with project teams, clients, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of project management methodologies such as Waterfall, Agile, or Hybrid.
- Proficiency in project management tools such as MS Project, Jira, Smartsheet, or equivalent.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organisational, coordination, and time-management skills.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication abilities.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines under pressure.
- Project Management certification such as PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent is advantageous.
- Experience in IT, telecommunications, or professional services projects is advantageous.
- Own reliable transport is preferred.
- Willingness to travel to client sites when required.
