DRA Global is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to join our project delivery team. This role involves working across mining, process plant, and infrastructure projects, providing hands-on project engineering expertise throughout the project lifecycle.
The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating mechanical engineering and design activities, from initial studies and detailed design through to procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.
Coordinate mechanical engineering and design activities across multidisciplinary projects, ensuring seamless integration.
Manage engineering scopes, deliverables, schedules, and design interfaces efficiently and effectively.
Ensure all engineering solutions are safe, practical, constructible, and fit for purpose.
Support the development, preparation, and management of mechanical procurement packages.
Facilitate technical communication and coordination between engineering, procurement, project management, vendors, and site teams.
Oversee engineering changes, manage risks, and resolve technical queries throughout the project lifecycle.
Monitor progress of engineering and design activities to ensure alignment with project schedules and budgets.
Provide technical support during construction, installation, and commissioning phases.
Participate in design reviews, vendor document reviews, and project handover processes to maintain quality and compliance.
Ensure adherence to all relevant legislation, engineering standards, client requirements, and project procedures.
BSc, BEng, BTech, or equivalent NQF Level 7 qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
Professional registration with a recognised engineering institution.
5–10 years’ relevant experience in Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in mining and infrastructure projects.
At least 3 years’ experience working on process plant and infrastructure projects.
Experience in hydrometallurgical and/or chemical plant projects.
Proven ability to work within multidisciplinary engineering and project teams.
Strong understanding of engineering coordination, procurement, construction support, and overall project delivery.
Operational experience within mining, processing, or hydrometallurgical plants.
Membership of SAIMechE.
Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
The ideal candidate will be proactive, well-organised, and commercially astute, demonstrating strong technical judgement and meticulous attention to detail.
