Job summary

EQPLUS TECHNOLOGIES PTY LTD is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to lead engineering and infrastructure projects in Gauteng. The role requires organizing and controlling project elements across the lifecycle and coordinating multi-disciplinary teams.

The ideal candidate has a minimum of 5 years in project engineering, with facility design experience, plus 2 years in project management. Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Project is essential.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 years’ demonstrated experience within a project engineering environment, preferably with facility design.
• A minimum of 2 years’ demonstrated project management experience in a multi-disciplinary environment.
• Proven ability to deliver complex engineering solutions.
• Bachelor’s degree in civil / mechanical / electrical building services engineering and PM qualification.

Responsibilities

• Interface with External Customers for project objectives and program issues.
• Coordinate regional and in-country workgroups to achieve project goals.
• Design appropriate solutions with functional experts and deliver change requirements.
• Develop and implement project solutions with proper documentation and costs.
• Communicate progress to stakeholders and assist with monthly reporting to leadership.
• Ensure designs meet ISO and internal standards and regulatory requirements.

Implement engineering & infrastructure projects by organizing and controlling project elements throughout the life cycle of each project.

Minimum Requirements

Education & experience

• A minimum of 5 years’ demonstrated experience within a project engineering environment preferably with experience in facility design and engineering
• A minimum of 2 years’ demonstrated project management experience in a multi-disciplinary project environment
• Proven ability to deliver complex engineering solutions
• Bachelor’s degree in civil / mechanical / electrical building services engineering
• Recognised qualification in project management
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office

Key Responsibilities

External

• Interface with External Customers where required for the implementation of project objectives.
• Where relevant, ensure that external stakeholders are consulted on direction, progress, goals and program issues

Internal

• Co-ordinate regional and in-country workgroups to achieve project’s goals
• Work with functional experts and workgroups in designing appropriate solutions.
• Develop solutions that meet project goals or change requirements.
• Co-ordinate the development and implementation of solutions ensuring appropriate technical and operational solutions.
• Communicate, interface and work with the respective groups to achieve the defined goals.
• Ensure program direction and progress is communicated to all stakeholders

Design And Engineering

• As directed, initiate and design project solutions to address identified or specific needs
• Site evaluation of potential Brownfield sites, GA designs, space planning, building and organization’s specifications.
• As directed, develop project BCAs and supporting documentation for review and approval including:
• Facility capacity and anticipated growth, completing Base Data and Facility Sizing Questionnaires, process designs and MHE specifications, facility layouts, project plans, WBS and costs, project organisation, and project execution plans.

Project Management

• Manage business and project risks, including the development of contingency plans according to the needs of the projects being managed
• Project management from inception to hand-over
• Assist with executing specific project tasks on other projects are directed
• Feedback and monthly reporting to the Director Engineering
• Act as a trouble shooter to provide advice and support to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget and to the agreed specifications.

Quality and Compliance

• Ensure that all designs and specifications comply with the organization and country / regional standards
• Ensure the compliance of standards within the framework of ISO 9001, ISO 14000, 5S, SHEQ and other standards as defined by the organization and in-country laws and building regulations
• Ensure that project documentation required by the Quality Management System is kept up to date and ensure that it is within the guidelines of the organization and BPM System

Skills

• Fluency in spoken and written English, other regional languages would be a bonus
• Advanced skills in AutoCAD, Excel, Word, Power Point, Visio and MS Project.
• Broad understanding of engineering principles regarding mechanical, electrical and civil engineering and IT infrastructure associated with facility and process engineering and design.
• Experience in facility design, office space planning and design ergonomics.
• Experience in building civil works and specification / design development. Experience in building electrical services design. All-round design, engineering and project management experience in a facility and building infrastructure.
• Good mathematical and statistical ability to enable data analysis.
• Well-developed project management, prioritising and analytical skills with strong business acumen.
• Proven ability in technical report writing
• Excellent communication skills in the areas of presentation, negotiating and influencing skills

Physical Abilities

• May involve some climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, walking or standing in warehouse or construction site settings.
• Requires manual dexterity and visual and hearing acuity.
• Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a workstation or on-site.
• Frequent travel to multiple SSA destinations.
