Job summary

Shift Pursuit seeks an Engineering Manager in Gauteng to provide strategic and technical leadership for multidisciplinary engineering projects. You will lead teams, drive technical excellence and support business growth.

The role requires a BEng/BSc Eng, Pr Eng with ECSA (essential) and preferably an MEng, with Pr CPM as a plus. You will oversee governance, budgets, client relationships, and development of engineers across projects.

Qualifications

• BEng or BSc Engineering degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Registered as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) with ECSA (essential).
• Master of Engineering (MEng) (preferred).
• Registered as a Professional Construction Project Manager (Pr CPM) with SACPCMP (preferred).
• Valid South African driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver high-quality engineering projects.
• Provide strategic technical direction and engineering oversight across multiple projects.
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
• Review and approve engineering designs, reports and technical deliverables.
• Ensure compliance with ECSA requirements, relevant legislation and industry standards.
• Manage project resources, budgets, utilisation and performance.
• Mentor and develop engineers and technical professionals, supporting professional registration and career progression.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors and key stakeholders.
• Support business development initiatives, including proposals, tenders and client engagement.
• Drive continuous improvement, operational efficiency and technical excellence throughout the engineering function.

Position Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced and dynamic Engineering Manager to provide strategic and technical leadership within its Gauteng operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading multidisciplinary engineering teams, ensuring the successful delivery of projects, maintaining technical excellence, and supporting the continued growth of the business. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership capability, commercial acumen and extensive consulting engineering experience.

Minimum Qualifications

• BEng or BSc Engineering degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Registered as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) with ECSA (essential).
• Master of Engineering (MEng) (preferred).
• Registered as a Professional Construction Project Manager (Pr CPM) with SACPCMP (preferred).
• Valid South African driver’s licence.

Experience

• Minimum of 10 years’ post-qualification engineering experience.
• At least 5 years in a senior engineering management or leadership role within a consulting engineering environment.
• Proven experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and complex infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of project governance, commercial management and contract administration.
• Experience in business development, tender preparation and client relationship management will be advantageous.
