Job summary

Shift Pursuit in Bloemfontein seeks an experienced Project Manager to lead Water and Sanitation infrastructure projects. You will drive delivery from initiation to close-out, manage scope, budget, quality, and schedule, and serve as the primary liaison between client and project team.

Optimally you will mentor multidisciplinary teams, develop execution plans, monitor progress, and coordinate consultants and contractors to ensure safety, quality, and on-time delivery in line with QMS standards.

Qualifications

• Role requires BSc/BEng/BTech in Engineering or related Built Environment.
• Registered as PrCPM with SACPCMP is mandatory.
• Engineering background is advantageous.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams is essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead Water and Sanitation infrastructure projects from initiation through close-out.
• Manage scope, programme, budget, quality and overall delivery.
• Act as primary liaison between client and project team.
• Mentor multidisciplinary project teams and project managers.
• Develop client briefs, scopes and execution plans.
• Monitor progress and implement recovery plans as needed.
• Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction and performance.
• Coordinate with Quantity Surveyors for cost reporting and control.
• Review time extension claims and provide client recommendations.
• Coordinate consultants and contractors throughout delivery.
• Assist with business development, tender submissions and proposals.
• Coordinate specialist consultants for consortia or JV where required.
• Prepare project reports and ensure QMS compliance.
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget.

Introduction:

Join a well-established multidisciplinary consulting engineering firm as a Project Manager based in Bloemfontein. We are looking for an experienced and driven Project Manager with a strong background in Water and Sanitation infrastructure, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for delivering complex engineering projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Performance Areas:

• Lead and manage Water and Sanitation infrastructure projects from initiation through to close-out.
• Manage project scope, programme, budget, quality, and overall project delivery.
• Act as the primary point of contact between the client and project team.
• Lead and mentor project managers and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Develop client briefs, project scopes, and project execution plans.
• Monitor project progress and implement recovery plans where required.
• Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction progress, quality, and project performance.
• Manage project costs and provide accurate reporting in conjunction with Quantity Surveyors.
• Review extension of time claims and provide recommendations to clients.
• Coordinate professional teams, consultants, and contractors throughout project delivery.
• Assist with business development activities, tender submissions, and proposal preparation.
• Source and coordinate specialist consultants for consortiums and joint ventures where required.
• Prepare project reports and ensure compliance with the company's Quality Management System (QMS).
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Requirements:

Education:

• BSc/BEng/BTech Engineering or related Built Environment qualification.
• Registered as a PrCPM with SACPCMP (non-negotiable).
• Engineering background advantageous.

Experience:

• 7-10 years' construction project management experience, or 10+ years' experience in a senior built environment role.
• Extensive experience managing multidisciplinary project teams.
• Senior general management experience.
• Strong knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001).
• Experience managing Water and Sanitation infrastructure projects.
• Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in MS Project, proposal writing, and report writing.
