Job Summary:
This role will provide you an excellent opportunity to support and enhance the learning journeys of talented Red & Yellow students in the School of Creative Communication. It entails (in addition to the duties related to teaching module(s) per semester) overseeing the implementation of the programme curriculum and learning and teaching strategies, managing the lecturers teaching on the programme, the teaching assistants, costs and budgets relating specifically to the programme and assuring the quality of the delivery according to CHE regulations.
You would work closely with and will be supported by the team of Programme Administrators, the Academic Executive and the Manager of Regulatory and Student Affairs.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
This position will require, but is not limited, to the following activities:
- Teaching, learning, assessment and other standard duties in the delivery of assigned module(s) per semester as determined by the Managers of School and/or Head of Academics
- Ensure that the programme curriculum and quality is maintained throughout delivery
- Oversee the implementation of the curriculum and associated learning and research activities
- Manage the lecturers, TA’s and tutors teaching on the programme (incl. performance monitoring and advising on development)
- Ensure that the prescribed programme timetable and class attendance are maintained
- Ensure that the prescribed programme assignments and assessments are completed
- Ensure programme specific facilities, equipment and budgets are properly managed
- Participate in all the R&Y School’s Academic Governance and Quality Assurance procedures
- Offer programme content support to students
- Resolve complaints from students about the academic delivery of the programme
- Ensure constant feedback from students on programme-related issues are obtained and logged
- Ensure that all programme statutory requirements, documents (ie T&L’s, Programme guides etc), reports are adhered to and completed timeously to a top-quality standard.
- Actively work with the R&Y Marketing, Student Advisor teams and lecturers to promote the programme
- Contribute to and manage programme reviews and improvements in order to maintain and improve quality
- Oversee admissions, aptitude assessments to programmes, and manage the RPL and credit transfer process
- Create and promote an collegial, professional and academic culture within the programme team
- Participate in the on-boarding of all academic and student support staff on the programmes
- Participate in the recruitment of new staff on the programmes
- Head up an academic committee or contribute on multiple committees depending on workload
- Weekly meetings with lecturers ensure they are working towards the goals outlined in their KPIs and that all issues are addressed
- Actively assist in student orientation
- Assist in delivering student records and transcripts
- Ensure all assignments, learning material and modules guides are stored on the Quality Assurance drive
- Engage in the admissions process with oversight of the selection committee
- Report weekly to the Head of Academics
Qualifications and Experience:
- NQF 9 (Masters) qualification Higher education or in the Field of Creative Communications
- Minimum 5 years of rigorous and demonstrable experience in the advertising and /or marketing industry
- Minimum 3 years of teaching experience in a Higher Education environment
- Demonstratable management experience of people/teams in an academic environment
- Have designed rigorous assessments and have an understanding of NQF levels
- Extremely computer literate: Google Workspace (Gmail, GDrive, GSheets, etc.), Zoom and/or Microsoft 360 package, R&Y Hub, Moodle
- Have a prerequisite knowledge of the programme to ensure that the programme is maintained throughout delivery
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong project and time management skills
