Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate a heavy-duty commercial truck (e.g., 18-wheeler) for long-haul transportation between **Cape Town** and various destinations across South Africa.
• Adhere strictly to all national and provincial traffic laws, regulations, and company safety protocols.
• Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, ensuring the truck and trailer are in optimal working condition.
• Report any mechanical issues, defects, or safety concerns immediately to the fleet maintenance department.
• Securely load and unload cargo, verifying manifests and ensuring correct quantities and types of goods are transported.
• Plan and optimize routes to ensure timely deliveries while considering fuel efficiency and driver rest periods.
• Maintain accurate logbooks, mileage records, and fuel receipts as per legal requirements and company policy.
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers regarding schedules, delivery status, and any potential delays or issues encountered on the road.
• Represent the company professionally to clients and the public during pickup and delivery operations throughout **Cape Town** and other service areas.
• Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the truck cab and its equipment.

Requirements

• Valid Code 14 (EC) heavy vehicle driver's license with a valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP) is mandatory.
• Minimum of 7 years of continuous, professional long-haul truck driving experience.
• Proven experience operating large commercial vehicles (e.g., tractor-trailers, articulated trucks).
• An impeccable driving record with no major infractions or accidents.
• Thorough knowledge of South African road networks, traffic laws, and dangerous goods regulations (if applicable).
• Ability to manage long driving hours and spend extended periods away from **Cape Town**.
