Job summary

The Recruitment Pig is seeking a senior civil construction leader in Gauteng to supervise road-building production on major contracts. You will guide earthworks, roadbeds, and layer works while coordinating heavy equipment fleets and on-site teams.

You bring a National Diploma or BTech in Civil Engineering, 8–12 years of road construction experience, and a track record on SANRAL or large highway projects. Registration with ECSA or SACPCMP is an advantage.

Qualifications

• Eight to twelve years of direct experience in road construction, bulk earthworks, and layerworks.
• Proven track record on major SANRAL, provincial, or large metropolitan highway projects.
• Strong practical knowledge of G1 crushed stone basecourses, road stabilization, and compaction.
• Professional registration with ECSA or SACPCMP is an added advantage.
• A positive attitude, inspiring team spirit, and a strong commitment to quality work.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily road building production cycles, including bulk earthworks, roadbeds, and layer works.
• Direct specialised yellow-metal teams operating motor graders, excavators, articulated dump trucks, and heavy rollers.
• Coordinate on-site deliveries of commercial quarry aggregates, G1 to G7 gravels, and stabilizing agents.
• Control specialized road stabilizing operations using cement, lime, or bitumen emulsion mixers.
• Enforce daily quality checks on compaction moisture contents, layer thicknesses, and density test results.
• Track daily earthmoving volumes, plant cycle times, and fuel usage against planned site production targets.
• Implement approved site traffic accommodation setups, warning signs, and temporary diversions to keep motorists safe.
