Placements24, on behalf of our client in Paarl, seeks a Production Chemist to optimize oil and gas production chemistry. You will monitor treatments, analyze streams, and troubleshoot issues to maximize hydrocarbon recovery.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related field and at least 5 years of experience in oilfield chemistry, with strong analytical and regulatory compliance skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Production Chemist or in a similar role.
• In-depth knowledge of oilfield production chemistry (scale, corrosion, paraffin, emulsion control).
• Experience with laboratory analysis techniques and equipment relevant to production chemistry.
• Familiarity with environmental regulations and safety protocols for chemical handling.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a detail-oriented approach.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement chemical treatment programs for oil and gas production systems.
• Monitor production chemistry, analyze fluid samples, and assess treatment effectiveness.
• Troubleshoot production problems related to chemical performance with ops and eng teams.
• Conduct laboratory studies to evaluate new chemical technologies.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations regarding chemical usage and disposal.
• Maintain records of chemical inventory, application rates, and performance data.
