Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Production Chemist for its Soweto team to optimize oil and gas chemical processes. You will analyze samples, develop treatment programs, and troubleshoot fluid properties and chemical interactions to ensure product quality and efficient operations.

The role emphasizes collaboration with production engineers, ongoing equipment maintenance, and adherence to QC standards within upstream and midstream contexts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related scientific discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Production Chemist or similar role in Oil & Gas.
• Strong understanding of hydrocarbon chemistry, fluid properties and analytical techniques.
• Experience with production chemicals in upstream and midstream operations.
• Proficiency in laboratory analysis and data interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Analyze crude oil, natural gas, and water samples to determine composition and properties.
• Develop and implement chemical injection strategies for production optimization and asset integrity.
• Monitor the effectiveness of chemical treatments and adjust as necessary.
• Troubleshoot production issues related to emulsions, scaling, corrosion, and paraffin deposition.
• Collaborate with production engineers and operations teams to resolve challenges.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure adherence to quality control standards.
