Takealot.com, a leading South African online retailer, is looking for a highly talented Product Lead to own and drive one of the core pillars of our Storefront Digital Experience — a critical component of how millions of customers discover, explore, and interact with our platform every day. In this role, you will take end-to-end ownership of a key area (Retention and Growth) within the customer journey and be responsible for defining its vision, shaping the strategy, and leading execution to deliver exceptional customer and business outcomes.

Your Responsibilities
- Define a compelling long-term product vision (3–5 years) and strategy for your product area, aligned with business goals and grounded in customer needs. Focus on elevating the end-to-end digital experience through innovation, differentiation, and the smart application of emerging technologies.
- Own and maintain an actionable product roadmap that clearly prioritizes features, enhancements, and strategic initiatives. Ensure the roadmap reflects evolving business priorities, customer feedback, and technological opportunities.
- Lead the full product development lifecycle—from problem framing and opportunity sizing to solution design and execution. Collaborate with cross-functional partners to run discovery, define requirements, drive delivery, support experimentation and user testing, and ensure high-quality outcomes.
- Serve as the thought leader and champion of the digital customer experience within your domain. Represent your product vision to internal stakeholders and senior leadership, and ensure alignment across teams working toward a shared experience goal.
- Drive alignment and collaboration across disciplines including engineering, design, analytics, marketing, and other areas. Influence related product roadmaps to ensure coherence, scalability, and a seamless experience across the platform.
- Leverage data and experimentation to continuously improve the product. Analyze performance, test hypotheses, monitor key metrics, and use customer insights to identify and deliver impactful optimizations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum bachelor’s degree, preferably in engineering
- 8+ years of product management experience, with at least 3–5 years focused on product leadership/strategy (Bonus if loyalty/growth related strategy)
- Strong strategic thinking and product discovery experience — you’re not just executing, you’re setting vision and direction.
- Experience in consumer tech, e-commerce, marketplaces, or subscription-based platforms
- Preferred experience with loyalty, growth and retention strategy, growth models such as PLG (Product-Led Growth).
