Job summary

Synergy Jobs (Pty) Ltd in Cullinan is seeking a Procurement Manager to lead strategic livestock procurement initiatives, coordinate daily needs for slaughter-ready lamb and beef, and ensure protocol compliance across suppliers. You will manage supplier relationships, rollout procurement actions with FR and Weaner suppliers, and oversee weekly slaughter schedules with abattoirs.

This role requires a Diploma in Farming and Agricultural with 5–7 years in meat procurement and is reporting to

• Diploma or degree in farming and agriculture is required.
• 5–7 years meat industry operations experience is expected.
• 5–10 years agricultural managerial experience is expected.

• Develop and implement a strong procurement strategy and goal setting for field personnel.
• Maintain open relationships with stakeholders in the red meat value chain.
• Nurture and improve current supplier relationships and expand producer base.
• Oversee weekly slaughter and procurement schedules with abattoirs.

Job description

POSITION: Procurement Manager

LOCATION: Cullinan (Mainly Office bound position)

REPORTING TO: Livestock Director

Job Purpose

Responsible for the implementation of all strategic procurement initiatives, as well as co-ordination of daily procurement needs, including Slaughter ready lamb and beef (Free Range and Commercial), Weaner lamb and beef, Informal markets Protocol sourcing.

Ensure that all lamb and beef procurement protocols are managed correctly and effectively. Responsible to liaise with all relevant stakeholders in the industry regarding livestock procurement and protocol management.

Output profile

Strategic Livestock Procurement & Stakeholder Management

• Develop and implement a strong procurement strategy and goal setting for all field personnel
• Maintain open and good relationships with identified stakeholders in the red meat value chain in all areas where the company is active.
• Nurture and improve current supplier relationships and expand producer base
• Ensure all farmers know and understand the company’s Livestock needs and buy into the company’s supply strategy
• Responsible for the roll out of strategic procurement actions, like FR farmers, Calendar farmers and Weaner lamb suppliers and to align producers, field personnel, animal feed manufacturers and animal medicine companies to share and support the strategies
• Purchase Price Management

Weekly / daily Procurement Management

• Full responsibility for total procurement needs including slaughter ready lamb and beef; weaner lamb and beef; protocol sourcing; informal markets.
• Managing the weekly slaughter and procurement schedule for abattoirs
