Job summary

General Heavy Machinery is seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to lead our procurement function in the earthmoving and heavy equipment sector. You will drive supplier sourcing, negotiations, and cost management while leading a procurement team to meet stock requirements and deadlines.

• Minimum 10 years in earthmoving/heavy equipment related industry.

• Extensive knowledge of sourcing and procuring parts, equipment, machinery, consumables, and services.
• Proven experience in supplier sourcing, supplier relationship management, contract negotiations, and cost management.
• Experience managing procurement budgets, stock requirements, lead times, and supplier performance.
• Relevant qualification in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Management, or a related field will be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the overall procurement department and procurement team.
• Develop and implement effective procurement strategies, policies, and processes.
• Source and negotiate with local and international suppliers to secure competitive pricing, quality products, and favourable terms.
• Manage supplier relationships and monitor supplier performance.
• Oversee procurement of parts, machinery, equipment, services, and other operational requirements.
• Ensure procurement activities support stock availability while managing costs and lead times effectively.
• Drive cost-saving initiatives and identify opportunities to improve procurement efficiency.
• Manage and develop procurement staff through coaching, performance management, and leadership.
• Work closely with management, operations, workshop, warehouse, finance, and other departments to understand and support business requirements.
• Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and approval processes.
• Prepare and present procurement reports, performance updates, and cost-saving initiatives to senior management.
