The role emphasizes optimizing recovery, grade and costs, implementing maintenance schedules, and guiding continuous improvement in collaboration with maintenance and quality teams.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 10 years in mineral processing operations.
• At least 3 years in supervisory or management role.
• Experience with various mineral processing techniques and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all mineral processing plant operations (crushing, grinding, flotation, dewatering).
• Develop and implement production schedules and optimize resource use.
• Manage plant personnel including recruitment, training, and performance.
• Monitor KPIs to optimize recovery, grade and operating costs.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards (HSEQ).
• Coordinate with maintenance to minimize downtime and ensure equipment reliability.

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly experienced Processing Plant Superintendent to manage their mineral processing facility near Port Elizabeth . This leadership role is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, ensuring efficient and safe processing of raw materials to meet production targets and quality standards. You will lead a dedicated team of operators, technicians, and engineers, optimizing plant performance, managing maintenance schedules, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives. This is a key operational position offering significant responsibility and the opportunity to impact overall mine profitability in a strategically important region.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of the mineral processing plant operations, including crushing, grinding, flotation, and dewatering.
• Develop and implement production schedules, ensuring efficient resource utilization and throughput.
• Manage plant personnel, including recruitment, training, performance management, and fostering a strong safety culture.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement strategies to optimize recovery, grade, and operating costs.
• Ensure adherence to all health, safety, environmental, and quality (HSEQ) regulations and standards.
• Coordinate with maintenance teams to minimize downtime and ensure the reliability of plant equipment.
• Manage consumables inventory and procurement processes for the plant.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related field.
