Applicants should have a strong track record in oil & gas or chemical industries, with CSP or CFPS desirable. Travel to Richards Bay is required occasionally.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemical/Mechanical engineering or related field.
• Minimum 6 years of process safety engineering experience in oil & gas or chemical industries.
• Strong knowledge of process safety principles and standards (e.g., OSHA PSM, CCPS).
• Proven experience conducting PHAs (HAZOP/LOPA/FMEA).
• Familiarity with safety instrumented systems (SIS) and risk reduction measures.

About the Role

Our client, a leading entity in the downstream Oil & Gas sector, is seeking a diligent and proactive Process Safety Engineer to join their facility operations team near Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. This critical role focuses on ensuring the highest standards of process safety are maintained throughout the plant, preventing incidents and protecting personnel, assets, and the environment. The position is designated as fully remote, requiring you to manage safety protocols and compliance from your home office, with occasional site visits as necessary. You will be instrumental in conducting risk assessments, developing safety procedures, and driving a strong safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and FMEA studies.
• Develop and implement robust process safety management (PSM) systems.
• Ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations and industry standards.
• Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.

Requirements
