Placements24 is seeking a Process Safety Engineer to enhance safety programs in an Oil & Gas setting at our client site in Tembisa, Gauteng. The role focuses on developing, implementing and managing PSM, performing risk assessments, and ensuring regulatory compliance across facilities.

Ideal candidates will have 5+ years in process safety engineering, a Chemical or Mechanical Engineering degree, and CSP is a plus. The position offers a hybrid work model with on-site and remote duties.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of process safety engineering experience in Oil & Gas.
• Knowledge of OSHA PSM, NFPA, API standards.
• Experience with risk assessment methodologies such as HAZOP, What-If, and LOPA.
• CSP certification is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive process safety management (PSM) programs.
• Conduct hazard identification and risk assessments (e.g., HAZOP, LOPA, PHA).
• Investigate process safety incidents, near misses, and deviations to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with national and international process safety regulations and standards.
• Develop and deliver process safety training to relevant personnel.
• Oversee the management of change (MOC) process for safety-critical modifications.
• Participate in safety audits and inspections of facilities and equipment.
• Maintain process safety information (PSI) and ensure its accuracy and availability.

• Experience in incident investigation and root cause analysis.
