Placements24 in South Africa seeks a dedicated Process Safety Engineer to join their operations in Tembisa, Gauteng. You will develop and implement PSM programs, conduct audits, and guide staff on safety best practices to protect personnel, assets and the environment.

With a minimum of five years in process safety within Oil & Gas or chemical industries, you will apply HAZOP, LOPA and SIL analyses, ensuring compliance with OSHA and API standards in a hybrid work setting.

Formación

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of process safety experience in Oil & Gas or chemicals.
• Fluency with HAZOP, LOPA and SIL assessments.

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated Process Safety Engineer to join their operations in Tembisa, Gauteng. This role is pivotal in ensuring the safety and integrity of all operational processes within their Oil & Gas facilities. You will be responsible for identifying potential hazards, assessing risks, and implementing robust safety management systems to prevent incidents and ensure regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Process Safety Management (PSM) programs, including PHA, HAZOP, and LOPA studies.
• Conduct safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
• Investigate process safety incidents, root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions.
• Design and oversee the implementation of safety systems and procedures for new and existing facilities.
• Provide training and guidance to operational staff on process safety best practices.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in process safety engineering, preferably within the Oil & Gas or chemical industries.
• In-depth knowledge of HAZOP, LOPA, and SIL assessments.
• Familiarity with relevant safety regulations and industry standards (e.g., OSHA, API).
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
