Placements24 is seeking a Process Safety Engineer to elevate safety standards across its chemical operations in Centurion. The role focuses on implementing robust process safety programs, managing PHAs, and training to reduce risk for employees and the surrounding community.

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's in Chemical Engineering, 5+ years in process safety, and knowledge of OSHA PSM or similar. CSP/CCPSC is a plus. A hybrid work arrangement and strong benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field required.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in process safety within the chemical industry.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA PSM or similar regulatory frameworks.
• Proven experience facilitating PHAs (HAZOP/LOPA/FMEA).
• Certification such as CSP or CCPSC is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Conduct PHAs including HAZOP, LOPA, and FMEA studies.
• Develop and maintain Process Safety Management systems and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with national and international process safety standards.
• Investigate incidents and near misses, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver process safety training programs.
• Oversee Management of Change for modifications to processes and equipment.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Process Safety Engineer to enhance safety standards and compliance within their chemical operations in Centurion . This critical role involves the development, implementation, and management of robust process safety programs to mitigate risks associated with hazardous materials and processes. You will be a key contributor to ensuring a safe working environment for all employees and protecting the surrounding community and environment. The ideal candidate possesses deep knowledge of safety regulations and a proactive approach to risk management.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) , including HAZOP, LOPA, and FMEA studies.
• Develop and maintain Process Safety Management (PSM) systems and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant national and international process safety regulations and standards.
• Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver process safety training programs to relevant personnel.
• Oversee the management of change (MOC) process for all modifications to chemical processes and equipment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience specifically in process safety engineering within the chemical industry.
• In-depth knowledge of OSHA PSM or similar regulatory frameworks.
• Proven experience facilitating and documenting PHAs.
• Certification such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or CCPSC is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of mechanical integrity, emergency response, and loss prevention principles.
