Placements24 is seeking a Process Safety Engineer to enhance safety at our Randburg facility. You will design, operate, and maintain chemical process safety programs to minimize risks and protect personnel and assets. The role emphasizes a robust safety culture across the site in Gauteng.

The ideal candidate brings 6+ years in process safety, strong knowledge of OSHA PSM and CCPS, and hands-on experience in risk assessments, safeguards, and incident investigations within chemical environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• 6+ years of experience in process safety engineering, preferably in chemical/petrochemical.
• In-depth knowledge of process safety principles, standards (OSHA PSM, CCPS).
• Experience with risk assessments and developing safeguards for chemical processes.
• Strong understanding of mechanical integrity, fire protection, and emergency preparedness.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, What-If, and FMEA studies.
• Develop and implement Process Safety Management (PSM) programs in accordance with regulatory requirements.
• Oversee the management of change (MOC) process for all process modifications.
• Develop and deliver process safety training to operations, maintenance, and engineering personnel.
• Investigate incidents and near-misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
• Maintain safety-related documentation, including safety data sheets, operating procedures, and emergency response plans.
