Job summary

The South African Breweries is seeking a Brewery Operator to operate the brewing and related processes, perform quality checks, and coach team members. The role requires a Diploma/degree in chemical engineering or biological sciences or brewing qualifications; 1-3 years in brewing; SAP and Microsoft Office literacy; physically fit to lift up to 20 kg; based in South Africa.

Qualifications

  • National Diploma or Degree in Chemical Engineering or Biological Sciences.
  • General Certificate in Brewing or Diploma in Brewing is advantageous.
  • 1–3 years’ experience in a brewing environment would be advantageous.
  • Experience in a process-controlled manufacturing environment (FMCG or food production).
  • Understanding of the brewing process from raw material transfers to Bright Beer Tank (BBT).
  • PC literacy (Microsoft Office and SAP).
  • Physically fit and healthy, with the ability to lift up to 20kg.

  • Operate the Brewhouse Plant and Process.
  • Operate Beverage Fermentation Plant and Process.
  • Operate Beverage Filtration and FAB Plant and Process.
  • Execute quality control checks and analyses.
  • Support the Brewing Technician Artisan in asset care activities.
  • Develop and coach other team members and specialist Brewery Operators.
  • Autonomous Teams requirements.

Key Purpose

The role is to operate the brewing and associated process areas, the execution of quality control checks and analyses, including coaching of other team members and supporting the Brewing Technician Artisan in carrying out asset care activities. Apply core competencies to achieve optimum plant and process performance.

Minimum Requirements
  • National Diploma or Degree in Chemical Engineering or Biological Sciences
  • General Certificate in Brewing or Diploma in Brewing would be advantageous
  • 1 - 3 years’ experience in a brewing environment would be advantageous
  • Previous experience in a process-controlled manufacturing environment, ideally within FMCG or food production
  • Understanding of the brewing process from raw material transfers to Bright Beer Tank (BBT), including utilities
  • PC literacy (Microsoft Office and SAP)
  • Physically fit and healthy, with the ability to lift up to 20kg
