Air Liquide is seeking a Process & Gas Applications Engineer to identify and deliver gas-based solutions that improve process efficiency and sustainability across customer facilities. You will lead audits, engineer innovative technologies, and manage pilot trials on-site to prove performance and ROI.
The role requires a university degree in Chemical, Metallurgy or Mechanical Engineering and 5+ years in industrial process engineering with a commercial orientation.
How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW? As a Process & Gas Applications Engineer, you will be responsible for identifying, designing, and delivering high-impact industrial gas solutions that drive process efficiency, yield, and sustainability across customer facilities. Functioning as the technical authority and business development bridge, you will lead deep-dive process audits at manufacturing sites, engineer innovative gas-based technologies, and manage hands‑on pilot trials to prove performance directly on the plant floor. Partnering closely with commercial teams, you will be responsible for building compelling ROI business cases from trial data to demonstrate value to key stakeholders, secure new long‑term contracts, and ensure all process modifications adhere to the highest standards of safety and compliance.
Conduct deep-dive technical audits of customers' existing manufacturing processes with the intention to identify opportunities where industrial gases can be introduced or utilized to further optimise their processes. Design and engineer innovative gas-based solutions to enhance the customers. processes translating theoretical concepts into practical, proven and deployable technologies. Lead proof‑of‑concept testing and pilot trials at customer facilities.
Install temporary gas equipment, monitor performance data, and troubleshoot process deviations in real‑time to prove the viability of the new application. Partner with the commercial sales team as the technical subject matter expert. Present engineering solutions to customer plant managers, operators, and technical directors to demonstrate ROI and secure buy‑in. Calculate required flow rates, pressures, and thermodynamic properties to design and specify the gas control skids, injection lances, or sparging systems needed to integrate the gas into the customer's pipeline. Ensure all newly developed applications comply with strict industry safety standards regarding the handling, storage, and utilisation of compressed and cryogenic gases. Conduct HAZOP reviews for all new customer installations.
