Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.

• Solid understanding of chemical engineering unit operations and process control.
• Experience troubleshooting manufacturing processes and equipment.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 and safety protocols.
• Proficiency in MS Office; experience with process simulation software is a plus.

About the Role

Our client, a growing manufacturer in the food and beverage additives sector, is seeking a dedicated Process Engineer to support their operations in Paarl, Western Cape . This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth and efficient running of production lines, troubleshooting process deviations, and driving continuous improvements. You will work closely with plant operators, maintenance teams, and quality control to maintain high standards of product quality and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of chemical process principles applied within a manufacturing context and possess excellent practical problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze production processes to identify and resolve operational issues.
• Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
• Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for plant operations.
• Assist in the troubleshooting of equipment malfunctions and process upsets.
• Conduct process validation and qualification activities.
• Work with the quality assurance team to ensure compliance with product specifications and regulatory standards.
• Support process hazard analyses and ensure safe operating practices are maintained.
• Participate in process design and engineering for plant modifications or upgrades.
• Train operators on new procedures and process changes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a process engineering or manufacturing support role, preferably within the chemical or food processing industries.
• Solid understanding of chemical engineering unit operations and process control.
• Experience with troubleshooting manufacturing processes and equipment.
• Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and safety protocols.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
