Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Process Engineer for a Bloemfontein facility in the agricultural chemical sector. You will optimize production processes, improve efficiency, and uphold safety and environmental standards.

The role involves troubleshooting, data analysis, and driving continuous improvement through process control and automation initiatives. A chemical engineering degree and at least four years of factory experience are required, with familiarity in granulation, synthesis, and drying.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum 4 years as a process engineer, preferably in fertilizer or chemical manufacturing.
• Familiarity with synthesis, granulation, drying and material handling.
• Strong understanding of process control and instrumentation.
• Experience troubleshooting in an industrial plant environment.
• Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations in chemical operations.
• Good analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with process data analysis tools.
• Experience with project management methodologies is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and control chemical processes to ensure optimal production output, quality, and efficiency.
• Troubleshoot process deviations and equipment malfunctions; identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
• Conduct regular process analyses and data logging to identify areas for improvement.
• Participate in process optimization projects aimed at reducing costs, improving yields, and enhancing product quality.
• Ensure adherence to SHE regulations and company policies.
• Collaborate with maintenance teams to schedule and oversee preventative maintenance activities.
• Assist in the commissioning and start-up of new equipment or process modifications.
• Prepare technical reports on process performance, incident investigations, and improvement recommendations.
• Support the implementation of process control strategies and automation systems.
• Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
