About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented Process Development Scientist to join their innovative team in Upington . This role is central to optimizing and scaling up manufacturing processes for pharmaceutical intermediates and active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). You will apply chemical engineering principles and synthetic chemistry expertise to design, develop, and validate robust, efficient, and cost-effective production processes. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize chemical synthesis routes and manufacturing processes for pharmaceutical intermediates and APIs.
- Conduct process development studies, including route scouting, reaction optimization, and purification strategies.
- Perform scale-up activities from laboratory to pilot plant and commercial manufacturing scales, ensuring process robustness and safety.
- Develop and validate analytical methods required for process monitoring and control.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing process issues and implement effective solutions to improve yield, purity, and efficiency.
- Prepare detailed process development reports, batch records, and technology transfer documentation.
Requirements
- Master's or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in process development within the pharmaceutical or fine chemical industry.
- Strong understanding of organic synthesis, reaction kinetics, and chemical engineering principles.
- Experience with process scale-up, technology transfer, and GMP manufacturing environments.
- Proficiency in analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC, NMR, and mass spectrometry.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong experimental design skills, and effective communication.
