Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Process Development Engineer to drive innovation and scale-up efforts at our Richards Bay facility in KwaZulu-Natal. You will translate laboratory discoveries into robust industrial processes, focusing on yield, purity, and economic viability.

You will lead bench-to-pilot-to-commercial scale-up, design experiments, generate P&IDs and SOPs, perform techno-economic assessments, and collaborate with R&D, engineering and operations to transfer technology and improve process

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent; Master's preferred.
• Minimum 6 years of process development, scale-up, or manufacturing support.
• Proven track record in developing and optimizing chemical processes.
• Experience with process safety assessments and hazard analyses.
• Strong analytical, statistical, and experimental design skills.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and project management.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and scale-up of new chemical processes from bench to pilot and commercial scales.
• Design and execute experiments to optimize process parameters, yields, and product quality.
• Develop detailed process descriptions, P&IDs, and operating procedures for new manufacturing campaigns.
• Conduct techno-economic assessments and feasibility studies for proposed process improvements.
• Collaborate closely with R&D, engineering, and operations teams to ensure successful technology transfer.
• Identify and evaluate new technologies that can enhance process performance and sustainability.
