To print high quality security products according to customer requirements and SABN standards.
Main Responsibilities (not Limited To)
- Take responsibility for the overall production, performance of the machine, team, and quality produced.
- Set-up, perform make-ready and operate the Numbering, Coating and Numbering Varnishing combination Machines and Lithography in line with production standards, targets, quality and safety standards.
- Complete First Line Maintenance and report any machine faults to Plant, Equipment & Maintenance (PEM) Department.
- Conduct numbering and varnishing quality control checks during print in line with quality control plan (QCP).
- Set up and analyse quality inspection systems for effective functionality and response to defects.
- Report any deviations to the Supervisor in the section.
- Provide Assistants and Operators with technical support/training when the need arises.
- Ensure workplace is clean and tidy at all times in line with Operational Excellence Standards.
- Ensure health, safety, environmental and quality regulations and standards are adhered to in line with the SABN policy and legal requirements.
- Perform reasonable value-add ad hoc duties or activities that are beyond normal scope of work, when requested.
- Technically oversee the work of Printer no. 2 and the Production Assistants allocated to the machine within area of responsibility.
- Collaborate with the Printer no. 2, Numbering Barrels Operators, Quality team members and Production Assistants to ensure the smooth functioning of the press.
- Ensure proper hand-over of the press in line with Printer no. 1 of the following shift.
- Ensure that the machine is cleaned thoroughly and prepared for the next shift and/or denomination.
- All work and behaviour is aligned to SABN values.
The Preferred Candidate Is Likely To Have
- Matric
- TT3 and Trade Test Lithography
- Relevant moving machinery licenses (desirable)
- Varnish operating certificate (desirable)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in the printing industry
- Previous team leadership experience - desirable

- Ability to conduct machine change over (quick change over technology/make-ready)

- Physical fitness is a requirement for the role (ability to perform knocking and lift approximately 30 - 40 kg)
- The incumbent should be able to/comfortable to work at heights.
