Job summary

AngloGold Ashanti seeks an experienced Electrical, Instrumentation and Control (E&I) discipline SME within the Global Projects function. The role drives technical assurance, risk-informed decisions, and lean engineering across major high-value Organic Growth projects from Concept through Execution.

The candidate will lead technical reviews, interface with Study Directors, and manage cross-functional teams to optimize value while ensuring safety and design integrity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Professional/Chartered Engineer registration (ECSA, CPEng, PE).
• 8–10 years in mineral processing or mining power infrastructure.
• 5 years at Senior/Principal level within an Owner's Team managing EPCM contracts.
• Expert knowledge of HV grid substations, power protection, plant automation (DCS/PLC).

Responsibilities

• Technical Assurance: Approve critical electrical/control deliverables and lead advanced engineering analysis.
• Project Study & Gate Support: Define engineering scopes and design criteria with Study Directors.
• Value Optimization: Challenge over-design and redundancy using lean delivery principles.
• Interface & Contractor Management: Direct EPCM contractors and manage cross-functional interfaces.
• Safety Leadership: Facilitate Safety in Design reviews and risk workshops (HAZID/HAZOP/CHAZOP).

Acts as the electrical, instrumentation, and control (E&I) discipline authority and Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the Global Projects function. The role drives technical assurance, risk-informed decisions, and lean engineering practices across major, high-value Organic Growth projects from Concept through to Execution.

ROLEACCOUNTABILITIES

• Technical Assurance: Approve critical electrical/control deliverables (SLDs, schematics, protection studies) and lead advanced engineering analysis (load flow, arc flash, harmonics).
• Project Study & Gate Support : Partner with Study Directors to define engineering scopes of work, technical management plans, and electrical design criteria.
• Value Optimization: Challenge over-design and unnecessary redundancy using Minimum Viable Solution (MVS) and lean owner's team delivery principles.
• Interface & Contractor Management: Direct EPCM contractors, manage complex cross-functional project interfaces, and lead technical vendor procurement for long-lead HV/MV items.
• Safety Leadership: Facilitate formal Safety in Design (SiD) reviews and risk workshops, including HAZID, HAZOP, and CHAZOP.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Education & Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
• Professional/Chartered Engineer registration (e.g., ECSA, CPEng, PE).

Experience, Knowledge and Skills

• 8–10 years in mineral processing or mining power infrastructure
• 5 years at a Senior/Principal level within an Owner's Team managing EPCM contracts.
• Expert knowledge of HV grid substations, power protection, plant automation (DCS/PLC), and a value-focused mindset capable of influencing cross-functional global teams.
