Job summary

Fempower Personnel in Johannesburg seeks an experienced Principal Piping Designer to provide technical leadership on a large-scale mining project. This is a fixed-term contract opportunity based in Johannesburg, with occasional site travel fully covered by the company.

The role requires 15+ years of piping design experience, mining project and EPCM experience, and mastery of 3D tools such as E3D, PDMS, SmartPlant 3D and AutoCAD Plant 3D.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of piping design experience.
• Mining project experience mandatory.
• EPCM experience mandatory.
• Proficiency in 3D design tools (e.g., E3D, PDMS, SmartPlant 3D, AutoCAD Plant 3D).
• Strong knowledge of piping layout, routing, isometric extraction, and clash detection.
• Experience on PGM concentrator, smelter, or underground mining projects (advantage).

Responsibilities

• Lead piping design activities for mining projects.
• Prepare and review piping layouts, isometrics, and 3D models.
• Ensure adherence to engineering and design practices, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications.
• Support standardization of piping drawings and document templates.
• Participate in constructability, operability, and maintainability reviews.
• Review and check work done by other designers.
• Coordinate with piping engineers and other disciplines to ensure project success.
