Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Principal Electrical Systems Engineer to lead architecture and design of complex electrical systems for a globally remote team. You will model, simulate, and guide system evolution from concept to implementation, mentoring engineers and shaping technical roadmaps.

The role requires a PhD or MSc in Electrical Engineering with 12+ years of progressive experience, expertise in power electronics, control systems, and proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and ANSYS.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 12+ years of progressive experience in electrical systems engineering with leadership in architecture/design.
• Proven track record designing and implementing large-scale, complex electrical systems.
• Expertise in power electronics, control systems, signal processing, or embedded systems.
• Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink and ANSYS.
• Demonstrated leadership and ability to influence technical decisions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and remote collaboration skills.
• Experience supporting projects in or related to Upington, Northern Cape is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural design and development of sophisticated electrical systems.
• Perform advanced system modeling, simulation, and analysis for optimal performance.
• Define technical roadmaps and strategic direction for system evolution.
• Evaluate and integrate new technologies into designs.
• Provide remote technical guidance and mentorship to engineering teams.
