Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years professional experience in a regulatory and/or nuclear industry environment.
  • Knowledge of the principles and requirements for Nuclear Reactor and Safety Analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Perform reviews and assessments of technical submissions for new applications.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on reviews and assessments.
  • Review submissions such as plant modifications and licensing changes; update related documents.
  • Provide technical support to audits and inspections related to plant changes and procurement quality.
  • Represent the organisation in meetings with external stakeholders.
  • Mentor junior staff and participate in management discussions.

Job Description

To perform reviews and assessments ofdocuments submitted by authorisation holders, as assigned, based on an in-depthunderstanding of established legal, regulatory and organisational documents,processes and guides, in the area of Nuclear Reactor and Safety Analysis

Requirements
  • NQF level 7 in Chemical or Electrical or Mechanical or NuclearEngineering

  • Knowledge of the principles and requirements for Nuclear Reactorand Safety Analysis

Duties andResponsibilities

  • Perform reviews and assessments, based on an in-depth understandingof established legal, regulatory and organisational documents, processesand guides, of technical submissions required for new applications
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in performing reviewsand assessments
  • Review of submissions such as plant modifications, changes to plantclassifications and nuclear procurement specifications, changes tolicensing and design bases documents and changes to related processes
  • Provide technical support to the audits and inspection function,with respect to issues related to plant changes, classifications,specifications, equivalencies, commercial dedications, manufacturing andprocurement quality assurance
  • Represent organisation in meeting with external stakeholders
  • Handle both simple and complex systems reviews and assessments
  • Provide input into the development of regulatory standards, guidesand internal processes
  • Participate in national and international forums
  • Participate in other NNR work outside the department, as requirede.g. emergency exercises etc.
  • Mentoring of junior staff members and trainees; and
  • Meetingswith team members for discussion and presentations with management
