Job summary

Swiss Re's Life & Health MEA Pricing team in Cape Town seeks an actuary to combine pricing technicality with client engagement across Africa and the Middle East. You will work with insurers to tailor reinsurance solutions and support key business decisions.

You'll develop pricing bases, perform experience investigations, apply AI-enabled tools and analytics, and mentor colleagues while collaborating with global teams in a dynamic, hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Nearly or newly qualified actuaries (FASSA or equivalent).
• Approximately 3 to 7 years of actuarial experience.
• Experience in pricing, product development, valuation, experience investigations, or reinsurance.
• Familiarity with the SA and/or MEA insurance markets is advantageous.
• Strong analytical and technical skills, including actuarial modelling and statistical techniques; experience with AI-enabled tools, R, GLMs or other programming languages would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Collaborating with clients and cross-functional teams on pricing and product development initiatives across life portfolios.
• Leading or supporting the development, review and documentation of reinsurance pricing bases and terms.
• Perform experience investigations to assess mortality, morbidity, lapse and claims trends.
• Apply AI-enabled tools and advanced analytics to improve pricing and portfolio management.
• Monitor in-force portfolio performance and support portfolio actions with analytics teams.
• Develop innovative pricing methodologies and tools; mentor colleagues and lead projects as appropriate.
• Engage with clients throughout pricing and negotiation processes.
