A laboratory service provider in Durban seeks a Pre-analytical Clerk to manage sample processing and distribution. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of administrative experience and be computer literate, especially in laboratory information systems. Responsibilities include handling queries, ensuring efficient sample tracking, and maintaining the cleanliness of the workspace. This role requires someone who can work under pressure and is available immediately.

Responsibilities

• Administers sorting and distribution of samples.
• Processes sample registration according to standard operating procedures.
• Handles administrative queries and customer complaints.
• Handles administrative queries and customer complaints for timely resolution.
• Responsible for tracking samples into the lab via couriers and sisters.
• Investigates bottlenecks in pre-analytical processes and resolves challenges.
• Maintains housekeeping in the area and prepares equipment per SOPs.
• Monitors stock levels and orders stock to ensure availability.
• Represents the organisation with professionalism to medical professionals, clients, and staff.
• Receives cash from couriers and depots and banks monies per SOPs.
• Reports incidents, documents and resolves queries, and documents on LIS.
• Prepares and scans patient forms onto the LIS and resolves scanning incompletes.
• Adheres to company uniform protocols and liaises with medical aids via email/phone.

Responsibilities

• Administers sorting and distribution of samples according to set standard operating procedures.
• Processes sample registration and queries according to set standard operating procedures.
• Ensures dispatching of specimens for processing in accordance with prescribed standard operating procedures including handling queries in line with prescribed turnaround time.
• Handles and refers administrative queries and customer complaints to ensure timely resolution of queries and responses to complaints.
• Responsible for samples being tracked into the lab via couriers and sisters.
• Investigates bottleneck in pre-analytical laboratory processes and ensure timely resolution of challenges.
• Ensures basic housekeeping in own working area, including suitable cleaning and preparation of equipment according to set standard operating procedures.
• Monitors stock levels and orders additional stock to ensure the availability of required materials at all times and ensure delivery of stock to the department.
• Represents the organisation by applying the principles of customer care in the medical pathology field and interacts professionally and ethically with medical professionals, clients and staff.
• Receives cash from couriers, sisters and depots and ensures banking of monies in accordance with relevant standard operating procedures.
• Reports incidents, generate customer complaints and be solution orientated. Document and action tasks on the laboratory information management system in compliance with relevant organisational policy.
• Prepares and scans patient forms onto laboratory scanning system and resolves the scanning incompletes according to set standard operating procedures.
• Responsible for adhering to company uniform protocols as set standard operating procedures.
• Liaising with medical aids via email / telephone.
