Job summary

Elchemie is seeking a meticulous laboratory team member in Johannesburg to receive and log samples, prepare standards, and assist with routine ICP OES analyses under supervision. You will support quality control, maintain safe work areas, and ensure compliant handling of precious metal samples.

Applicants should have Matric, with advantageous Maths/Science, and basic computer/data capture skills. Knowledge of LIMS or ISO 17025 is a plus, with a long-term permanent role and probationary period.

Qualifications

• Matric required; Mathematics and Science advantageous.
• Basic computer literacy and data capture experience beneficial.
• Knowledge of LIMS, ISO 17025 or laboratory quality systems advantageous.

Job description

What youâll be doing

Receive samples and labelling, log and track samples using LIMS. Reagent preparation Assist with routine laboratory analysis on ICP OES and instrument checks under supervision. Prepare worksheets, standards and samples as required. Support quality control checks and report any result or equipment concerns. Maintain clean, safe and organized work areas. Follow health, safety, PPE, waste handling and quality system requirements. Assist with secure handling and storage of high-grade or precious metal samples.

What youâll need

Experience and Qualifications:

Matric required; Mathematics and Science will be an advantage. Relevant laboratory experience will be an advantage. Basic computer literacy and experience with data capturing will be beneficial. Knowledge of LIMS, ISO 17025 or laboratory quality systems will be an advantage.

Skills

Strong attention to detail and accurate recordkeeping. Reliable, punctual and willing to learn. Good organizational and communication skills. Able to follow instructions, procedures and safety rules. Team orientated and able to work with laboratory staff to support accurate and timely results. Willing to work flexible hours.
