Placements24 is seeking an Electrical Power Systems Engineer in Upington to design, analyze, and implement high‑voltage power systems for major infrastructure projects. You will handle substations, transmission lines, and distribution networks, ensuring reliability, safety, and alignment with standards.

The role requires advanced knowledge of protection schemes, grounding, and harmonics, plus proficiency with ETAP, PSS/E or DigSilent.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with Power Systems.
Extensive experience in power system design and analysis.
Proficiency with ETAP, PSS/E or DigSilent.
Knowledge of protection schemes, grounding and harmonics.
Experience with project management and site supervision is beneficial.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

Design and engineer electrical power systems, including substations, transmission lines, and distribution networks.
Conduct power flow, fault analysis, and stability studies using specialized software.
Develop technical specifications for electrical equipment, such as transformers, switchgear, and protection relays.
Oversee the installation, commissioning, and testing of power system components.
Ensure all designs and installations comply with national and international power system standards.
Provide technical support and troubleshooting for existing power infrastructure.
