Job summary

iOCO Limited in Cape Town is seeking a Power BI Developer to design and deliver clear dashboards for public-sector clients, with a strong emphasis on UI/UX and data storytelling. You will translate business requirements into insightful visuals and maintain consistent standards across reports.

You will collaborate with data owners and backend teams, optimize performance, and ensure secure, scalable dashboards while communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders in a contract

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a Power BI Developer or BI Analyst.
• Strong portfolio showcasing UI/visualisation-focused dashboards.
• Proficient in DAX, Power Query, and data modelling.
• Experience working with SQL-based data sources.
• Ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

We are looking for a Power BI Developer with strong front-end dashboard design skills to support a key client in the public-sector environment. This role is ideal for someone who excels in creating clear, user-friendly, and impactful dashboards, with a strong focus on UI/UX and data storytelling.

What you'll do:

• Dashboard Design & Visualisation (80%)
  • Develop and enhance visually compelling Power BI dashboards for operational and executive reporting.
  • Apply UI/UX best practices to ensure dashboards are intuitive and accessible for a broad range of stakeholders.

  • Maintain consistent visual standards, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and usability.

• Data Modelling & Backend Support (20%)
  • Build and optimise DAX measures, calculated fields, and efficient data models.
  • Use Power Query for data shaping and transformation across multiple data sources.
  • Work with data owners, analysts, and backend teams to ensure high-quality datasets.
  • Manage dataset refresh schedules, workspace structure, and permissions in Power BI Service.

Your Expertise:

• Intermediate to strong knowledge of DAX, Power Query, and data modelling.
• Experience working with SQL-based data sources.

Nice to Have

• Experience supporting clients in public-sector or regulated environments.
• Understanding of data governance and security principles (e.g., POPIA).
• Exposure to cloud platforms, ideally Azure.
