Overview

Our client, an established insurance brokerage specialising in short-term and commercial underwriting, is seeking a Portfolio Administrator / Manager (Account Executive) to join their Commercial Underwriting team. This is a newly created, full time in office role in which the successful candidate will inherit an existing portfolio of clients while developing and expanding their own book through new business opportunities. The position is open to a broad range of experience levels, from junior professionals through to senior managers.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and service an allocated portfolio of short-term and commercial insurance clients
• Actively source, develop and secure new business opportunities to grow the portfolio
• Build and maintain strong, long term client relationships that support retention
• Conduct regular client reviews and detailed risk assessments
• Provide tailored insurance solutions aligned with each client's needs and exposures
• Prepare and present professional quotations and proposals
• Negotiate terms, premiums and cover with insurers and underwriting partners
• Advise clients on policy structures, product options and cover enhancements
• Ensure all compliance and regulatory requirements, including FAIS, are adhered to
• Maintain accurate client records and documentation, including own administration
• Assist with claims support and resolution where required
• Attend client visits and meetings as needed to service and grow the portfolio
• Keep up to date with insurance products, market developments and underwriting principles

Requirements

• Between 3 and 10 years' experience in the insurance industry, covering short-term, commercial, Assets All Risks, personal lines and travel
• Proven experience managing and growing a client portfolio, including new business development and client retention
• RE5 and full FAIS compliance
• NQF Level 4 or 5 in Short-Term Insurance, or an equivalent industry recognised qualification
• Sound knowledge of insurance products, underwriting principles and policy structures
• Strong sales, negotiation and client facing skills with excellent communication abilities
• High attention to detail, particularly with compliance and documentation
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook and Word
• Excellent English language skills, both spoken and written
• Own vehicle and a valid driver's licence for client visits, as the role is office based

Benefits and Compensation

Our client is offering a salary of R 20 000 to R 60 000 per month, depending on experience and seniority.
