Job summary

The Focus Group in Gauteng seeks an experienced Portfolio Accountant to strengthen its finance team. The role focuses on general ledgers, VAT, fixed assets, intercompany loans, and IFRS reporting within the property and real estate sector.

You will manage month-end reconciliations, deposits, and debtor accounts, with 3-5 years of relevant experience and SAICA articles. A B.Com Honours or Accounting degree is required, with strong time management and leadership skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Accounting with SAICA articles completed.
• 3-5 years' relevant accounting experience.
• IFRS financial statements experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain general ledgers and reconcile accounts monthly.
• Review bank reconciliations and intercompany loan accounts.
• Manage Fixed Asset Register, including depreciation and reconciliation.
• Prepare VAT returns and manage VAT processes via e-filing.
• Reconcile debtors and collect revenues; calculate commissions.
• Ensure accurate financial reporting in accordance with IFRS.

Duties:

• Maintain accurate and complete general ledgers.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts monthly and clear reconciling items.
• Review bank reconciliations on a monthly basis.
• Reconcile and confirm intercompany loan accounts.
• Maintain the Fixed Asset Register, including allocation, depreciation, and reconciliation.
• Prepare and submit monthly VAT returns via e-filing.
• Reconcile VAT clearing accounts and follow up on refunds.
• Process tenant deposit refunds and appropriations.
• Calculate collection commissions.
• Reconcile and clear Debtors Clearing accounts.

Requirements:

• Matric certification.
• B.Com Honours or a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• SAICA Articles plus 2 years post-articles experience in an accounting or related role.
• 3-5 years’ relevant experience as an Accountant.
• Experience in financial statements preparation in accordance with IFRS.
• Proven reliability, effective time management, and leadership skills.

• Familiarity with property and real estate industry practices.
