Job summary

Alpla Packaging Pty Ltd in Johannesburg is seeking a packaging operator to operate various packaging equipment, prepare packaging for production, and ensure accurate labeling and line clearance. You will handle documentation and ensure correct weights, counts, and packing instructions are followed.

In this role you will perform in-process quality checks, maintain strict housekeeping, and adhere to health, safety, and food safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Basic operation of multiple types of packaging equipment
• Packs manufactured products according to prescribed SOP's / documentation and packing instructions
• Responsible prepare packaging for production
• Pack and strap pallets according to item specific packaging instruction, and transfer to production location
• Continuously conducts in process visual quality checks to monitor the quality of product
• Verification of the article weights and units count per packaging unit as per SOP
• Record product, packaging, and order information on specified forms and records
• Conducts line clearance and cleans production packing lines and equipment according to laid down procedures
• Responsible for excellent housekeeping and following health and safety instructions
• Responsible for reporting potential Food Safety hazards and comply to the food safety management system requirements
• Work under the guidance of the Shift Supervisor to perform and complete the assigned duties
• Correct identification (labelling) of product cartons
• Housekeeping and cleaning around area of responsibility
• S6.3 Responsible to comply with all Hygiene requirements in the plant.
• S6.2 Support complaint handling by reporting all identified non-conformities and support in the implementation of effective corrective actions determined by the process owner, when needed.
• Ensure that HSE compliance in own area of responsibility.
• Report any incident or unsafe conditions seen in the plant/ work area.
