Placements24 is seeking a Chemical Engineer for our Bloemfontein, Free State site to optimize polymer production and contribute to new product development in a hybrid work setup. You will troubleshoot processes, monitor parameters, and implement improvements while collaborating with operations, quality, and R&D teams.

The role requires a degree in Chemical Engineering or Polymer Science, 3–5 years in chemical manufacturing, and willingness to commute to Bloemfontein.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Polymer Science/Engineering.
• 3-5 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing environment, with specific exposure to polymer production.
• Understanding of polymerization mechanisms (e.g., free radical, condensation) and process control strategies.
• Familiarity with polymer characterization techniques is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work systematically.
• Knowledge of safety protocols relevant to chemical plant operations.
• Proximity to Bloemfontein or willingness to commute.

Responsabilidades

• Oversee and optimize ongoing polymer production processes, focusing on efficiency, quality, and safety.
• Monitor key process parameters, identify deviations, and implement corrective actions to maintain optimal operating conditions.
• Troubleshoot production issues, conduct root cause analyses, and develop solutions to minimize downtime and material loss.
• Collaborate with the R&D team on the scale-up and commercialization of new polymer formulations and processes.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives, including debottlenecking and yield enhancement projects.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations in the plant environment.
• Develop and maintain process documentation, including operating procedures and batch records.
• Assist in the training of plant operators and technicians on process operations and safety protocols.
• Support quality control efforts by ensuring processes meet product specifications in Bloemfontein.
